When it comes time for couples to select the members of their bridal party, it isn’t an easy task to complete.
The selection process may prove to be a difficult one to fulfill-especially when it comes to choosing the best man and maid/matron of honor.
While it may come easy to some, others may pull out a list of prerequisites that need to be check off the list. Best friends from pre-school to siblings and those college roommates you met on the first day of class tend to make the cut, but someone you may forget? Your parents.
Although parents often already have a place within the processional, it is never a requirement that you have to stick to what is deemed to be “tradition.” Case in point, having your father or stepfather step in as your best man.
Think about it: they’ve known you since you were born (obviously), they share a bond that is irreplaceable and they’ve taught you the ins and outs of all of life’s encounters-why wouldn’t you want them standing up front with you on your big day? I feel that it is the ultimate nod and way to honor your parent on shaping you into becoming the person that your significant other adores and a moment that neither of you will ever forget.
Kudos to our couples present and past who have demonstrated this- it is a trend that I can only hope to see more of!
